Identity theft
Paying out after a claim
Identity theft
In the event of identity theft, you will need to obtain new personal documents and have your credit status reinstated.
The maximum amount we will pay for this is based on the tariffs of our preferred attorneys, up to the limit specified in the schedule. We will also pay all reasonable costs, up to the limit in the schedule, to:
○ replace your financial transaction cards and identity documents
○ monitor your credit status through our preferred credit bureau
○ settle any financial obligations caused by the identity theft
○ settle your loss of income from any unpaid leave you have to take to attend to the claim.
You always pay the first amount, or excess
You will always have to pay the first part of any claim settlement. This is known as the excess, and is listed in the excess schedule.
Example
If you successfully claim R2 000 to replace your identity documents, and the excess for that claim is R250, your net pay-out from us will be R1 750.
