Subsidence, landslip or ground heave
The following rules apply:
○ All cover noted as a referral in the "Subsidence, landslip & ground heave table" below must be referred to Hollard prior to granting cover
○ The sum insured applicable to subsidence, landslip or ground heave will automatically follow that of the buildings sum insured stated in the schedule
○ Basic questions are asked in the proposal form and if these indicate a potential issue or the risk is in a dolomite area the subsidence, landslip or ground heave questionnaire must be completed. Please click here to see which areas are known to have a high percentage of dolomite. The table below will indicate the action required
○ The questionnaire with a GRiP IRiS report must be submitted to Hollard, together with the schedule for approval
○ A relevant endorsement will be provided should the cover be accepted and it is not catered for in the applicable
policy wording.
Subsidence, landslip or ground heave table
All referrals must include a subsidence questionnaire and GRiP IRiS report.
Subsidence, landslip or ground heave
○ Subsidence means sinking – i.e. the vertical, downward movement of soil.
○ Landslip means the sliding down of a mass of land. It is, in effect, a small landslide, and it typically occurs on
a slope.
○ Ground heave means the upward movement of soil supporting the buildings.

*Recommended rate: 0.0075% of full sum insured

Hollard may require either a standard survey (indicating soil, typography, building integrity), an engineers report or a geotechnical report

* Any quotes loaded on black box products will give correct rates. Recommended rates may differ due to the base rate being unknown.
Additional underwriting considerations subsidence, landslip or ground heave
It is important to consider additional risk factors such as buildings situated near rivers, the coast or large dams where they could be built below the highest recorded flood lines. In addition, risks that are situated on slopes of mountain ranges could be exposed to increased instances of subsidence, landslip or ground heave.
