Sec on 4 – Fine arts
What is not covered
○ We will not cover any loss or damage – unless speci cally stated as covered below – caused by, or consis ng of:
– dryness or moisture, exposure to light or extreme temperatures, unless the loss is caused by storm or  re
damage
– anything that happens gradually, including smoke and dust damage, rising damp, fungus or mildew, mould, ac on of light, atmospheric or clima c condi ons, corrosion, rot, rust, decay or a rise in the water table
– scratching, chipping, chewing, tearing, dis gura on or discoloura on and cracking or den ng
– coastal or river erosion, rust and/or corrosion
– gradual deteriora on, lack of maintenance, deprecia on or wear and tear
– defec ve workmanship or design or the use of faulty materials
– infesta on, vermin, rats, mice, insects, pests or domes c pets
– loss, damage or deteriora on of an item caused by any process of cleaning, repairing, restoring, dyeing,
bleaching or altera on
– breakage of mirrors, glassware, crystal, crockery or china while they are being used, cleaned or carried by hand
– damage to glass, glassware, jewellery or other bri le ar cles due to cracking, den ng, chipping or scratching
– any addi onal costs resul ng from the unavailability of matching materials
– over-winding of clocks.
○ We do not pay for loss or damage caused by animals bi ng, pecking or clawing the  ne arts or damage caused by their excrement or urine (for example, birds chewing and bi ng parts of your  ne arts made of wood or cats clawing furniture). We will, however, pay for damage to your  ne arts caused by an animal which does not belong to you or anyone living in your home while it is accidentally trapped inside your home.
○ We do not pay for the disappearance of an individual stamp, coin, or other item that is insured as part of a collec on unless it is mounted in a volume and the page is also lost.
○ Home unoccupied
We do not cover loss or damage that occurs if your home has been unoccupied for longer than 60 consecu ve
days unless you have told us about this and we have agreed in wri ng to provide cover and you pay us any addi onal premium we may require.
○ We will not be liable for loss or damage covered by any manufacturer’s guarantee, purchase agreement or service contract.
○ We will not be liable for loss or damage to musical instruments:
– –
caused by breakage of strings, reeds or drumheads while the instrument is being played used for business or professional ac vity.
