Addendum F: Minimum security requirements – High-risk vehicles
MINIMUM SECURITY REQUIREMENTS – HIGH-RISK VEHICLES
The below minimum security requirements must be met in order for clients to enjoy theft or hijacking cover. Once
the vehicle has been added to the policy, the client will have 14 days from the cover start date to comply with the
requirement, failing which there will be no cover for theft or hijacking.
This requirement applies to vehicles that predominantly reside in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
One tracking device, which needs to be either a radio frequency device or an early-warning device, is required for theft
and hijacking cover for the following vehicles:
○ Toyota Etios (all models and years)
○ Toyota Hilux (all models manufactured from 2006 to 2015)
○ Toyota Fortuner (all models manufactured from 2006 to 2015)
○ Nissan NP200 (all models and years)
○ VW Polo (all models manufactured from 2010 onward)
○ Ford Ranger (all models manufactured from 2012 onward)
Two tracking devices, with any combination of radio frequency or early-warning are required for theft and hijacking
cover for the following vehicles:
○ Toyota Hilux (all models manufactured from 2016 onward)
○ Toyota Fortuner (all models manufactured from 2016 onward)
○ Toyota Prado (all models manufactured from 2018 onward)
○ Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (all models manufactured from 2017 onward)
○ Lexus (all models manufactured from 2018 onward)
We will not pay a claim for theft or hijacking in any of the following instances:
○ Neither tracking devices are a radio frequency or an early-warning tracking device which includes vehicle
recovery (unless otherwise agreed).
○ The tracking device/s were not in working order at the time of the incident.
○ The client’s contract was not active at the time of the incident.
○ The client did not comply with the conditions of that contract.
○ The client did not report the theft or hijacking to the tracking company immediately after the incident.
An additional excess of 5% of claim will apply if the early warning functionality was not activated when the vehicle was
left unattended.
