Spring Tune By Ella Shropshire
I think of a little house
In a green flower field
And you under the thatched roof
We paint on the white walls,
We make the past into fairytales
Our world to the tree line-
We need nothing past that.
Close your eyes,
We’ll lie naked in the shallow rocky creek,
The currents will braid our hair,
We pay them in regret,
Washed away in the water,
They run with it far, far away.
We’ll wear dresses and skirts a bit too big
Eat mushrooms and sundrops
And someday, when the weight in the pit of our bellies,
Our despair, our guilt, our regrets,
Has been sold to the rivers and trees and flowers We’ll link arms
And walk straight into the dark woods,
Unafraid.
