Childcare Crisis continued from page 17
has acclimated to all situations. They have some kiddos who are 5 days a week, some who are hybrid and kids that are just in the afterschool program. Discovery Kid Zone is not just a day-care, they foster knowledge and aid in education. DKZ has dedicated teachers just for schooling that help the students with their schoolwork throughout the day. Although classwork isn’t the only thing kids at DKZ have the opportunity
of learning, they provide a well-rounded education and experience, and desire for every kid to blossom and grow. In addition to schoolwork, the teachers incorporate yoga, character building, art, music, hands on projects, field trips and much more.
How has COVID changed or enhanced Discovery Kid Zone and how will you move forward?
Discovery Kid Zone has always had high standards when it comes to cleaning and is something that will continue to be a top priority. Additions made to the facility since COVID include a state of the art Zono Sanitation Machine, Electrostatic sprayers and EPA approved disinfectant,
temperature check stations, a touch free check-in process for parents with a health questionnaire ensuring that their kid is symptom free if they are dropping them off, top-quality sanitation stations and more.
Overall, DKZ has always been clean, but with grant money and added focus on sanitation it has raised the quality
of work done when it comes to cleaning and hygiene.
Through the pandemic Rachel would love to be able to offer childcare to remote workers and work together with businesses to potentially create a discount program through places of work. Rachel understands that even though parents may be able to stay at home with their kids, they have work and tasks that need to be completed, but the kids still need an outlet and a place to learn and play. “Businesses and high-quality childcare need to work in partnership to boost our economy,” says Rachel.
Looking forward, Rachel hopes that people realize how essential childcare is, and that there will be a sparked interest for those
who may want to work in this industry.
Rachel is certified to train and host
internships, and she would be more than
happy to be that starting point for those
wanting to launch their career in
childcare. Discovery Kid Zone prides itself
on providing a positive experience for their
kids, families, and employees, and hopes
to continue to grow and be a place for kids
to thrive as students and individuals. As
stated previously, this industry isn’t just a
babysitting business, they love, care, and
teach the young kids of our community.
Especially in a time like this, people are
beginning to realize “childcare is the
