The Second World War was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. The vast majority of the world's countries - including all the great powers - eventually formed two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. A state of total war emerged, directly involving more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. The United States entered WWII after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. On June 6, 1944 - 'D-Day' - Allied Forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare. Codenamed 'Overlord', the Allied landings on the beaches of
Normandy marked the start of a long and costly campaign to liberate northwest Europe form Nazi occupation In this class, we will learn how to research WWII records and to honor those of the "Greatest Generation. Register at www.crcgs.org.
