When to
Winter Water
Keep that hose handy as we predict some trees may need a bit of winter water.
Winter watering is necessary when there has been a long period (3-4 weeks) of no or low precipitation. Water only in the morning, when it is at least 40 de- grees outside. This allows the water time to soak into the soil before freezing night temperatures. Though deciduous trees go through dormancy in the winter, they still are susceptible to the harsh elements. To help with winter watering, residents are encouraged to pile any shoveled snow into the yard instead of the street. Keep your investment healthy. Ef cient water use = a healthy landscape.
