Charitable Contributions
by Janell D. Ball, Pro Accounting and Tax Services, LLC
Anew charitable deduction is available to taxpayers who do not itemize deductions. Sometimes referred to as a “universal deduction,” this CARES Act provision permits a non-itemizing taxpayer to take an above-the-line deduction of up to $300 for charitable contributions made in taxable years beginning in 2020. A deduction that is “above the line” reduces AGI. This deduction may be taken regardless of whether a taxpayer itemizes or not. TRA 2020 increases the maximum deductible limit to $600 for married taxpayers ling jointly for 2021 tax ling.
CASTLE ROCK ARTIST COOPERATIVE

The Castle Rock Artist Cooperative — or CRAC for short — was formed last year as our town’s newest nonpro t to serve artists and the art community, and they’re already beginning to make a big splash.
