“Google My Business” to Google Maps

Google is making some changes this year for business owners and managers. Google My Business has been renamed the “Google Business Pro le.” They decided to retire the GMB app this year, and instead encourage business managers to access their pro les through “an upgraded experience” on Google Search or Google Maps. My GMB app still works on my phone but we don’t know for how much longer.
Whatever it’s called and however you access it, the importance of having a Google pro le with the most accurate and complete information possible won’t change anytime soon. Here are 5 more Strategies to Optimize your Google Business Pro le.

Write a complete “from the business” description. When you create your business description, make it real, personal, and engaging. Your company isn’t just a business, it’s your story with customers.

Add your products and/or services. You can choose from a dropdown of standard services in your industry or create custom products.

Select primary and secondary categories. This plays into your key words and helps you rank higher on Google for the categories you o er.

Publish Google posts weekly. To promote engagement with your customers and boost your ranking in search results, you should always add a button from the dropdown options. I love to use the “Learn More” button and link it to my website.

Collect and respond to reviews. With this being a no-brainer, it takes e ort. Ask for referrals from customers regularly and when someone does leave a review, comment back to them right away. The response time matters.
