A beloved 1920’s family recipe now available to order for yourself, or to give as gifts for your family, friends or clients!
It all started with my grandmother (“Grammy”) in 1920, as kids we all got our special time with Grammy about once a year to make her special Peanut Brittle, she used the same spoon, thermometer, pan, yellow nylon scarf around her hair, and of course the wonderful marble slab! She did it in small batches and buttered up her hands and a bowl of ice water then hand-pulled the 300-degree brittle with her bare hands, each batch of brittle getting it nice and thin not thick and hard to eat!
I started making it with Grammy when I was about 8 years old and treasure those times and memories. After getting married it was always a special gift to family at the holidays. Later my husband asked me to start making more and giving it to our employees in his Tire and Lube shops! They loved it so much he bought me a large marble table that is known as the Brittle Table, which has now seen so much peanut brittle over the years! In 2016 after an especially lean year I decided to o er out to our friends on Facebook, and I can’t believe the responses and the love everyone has for my Grammy’s Peanut Brittle, and now I am teaching my grandkids, the 5th generation, to make it and give them incredible memories with me (they call me “Ya Ya”).
Now, with the help of my sister Jackie, we make this in- credible family-favorite treat and traced it back to 1920 that Grammy started making it for her family, so here is to anoth- er 100 years of great old fashioned hand pulled Grammy’s Peanut Brittle!
