There are many reasons why feeding deer is illegal. The Division of Wildlife says feeding them does more harm to them than good. See www.cpw.state.co.us. When you entice deer to your home, they attract predators. Deer are safer in their normal habitat than in your yard, and our children and pets are at danger from mountain lions the deer attract. Lions are killed unnecessarily when drawn into the Town. Young fawns need to learn to forage, not depend on neighborhood handouts. Deer are lovely to look at, but they damage our trees and shrubs. People have also been seriously injured getting close to deer. These are just a few reasons to leave these lovely animals alone.
