5. Check your Retirement contributions
You can lower your tax bill by taking advantage of retirement contributions by maxing out your retirement contributions to 401K’s, SEP’s, or IRA’s.
6. 2023 Federal income tax brackets
The federal income tax brackets are increased for 2023 to ac- count for inflation, up more than 7% from 2022. If you didn’t get a raise or even if you did the tax bracket adjustment may help to avoid having to pay a higher percentage in taxes on that increase in income.
Lastly check your withholdings. You can use the IRS’s Tax
Withholding Estimator to help determine if you should adjust
your withholdings for 2023.
