Rainwater collection, also known as
rainwater harvesting, is the process
of capturing, storing, and directing
rainwater runoff and putting it to
use. Rainwater collection is allowed
under Colorado law, but only for
irrigation of lawns and gardens.
Collected rainwater cannot be used for drinking water or indoor household purposes.
If you’d like to learn how to safely – and legally – collect rainwater for irrigation at an upcom- ing Rainwater Harvesting workshop, hosted by Douglas County and Colorado State University Extension, subscribe to their email list.
