Dear Carrollton Community,
I am grateful to be part o f a community that is called to be our best for one another, our best for others. My thoughts turned often to one o f my favorite passages in the Bible. I am sure you are familiar with it. It is about the importance and the beauty of loving others selflessly. St. Paul s letter to the Corinthians reads in part;
"If I speak in the tongues o f men or o f angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift o f prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record o f wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails...
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest o f these Is love.
By developing a selfless love marked by patience, kindness, humility, joy, and a hopeful perseverance, we and our students are prepared for the present and future. As our motto says: Caritas Vindt Omnia. Love Conquers All. We will mark the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Carrollton inspired by knowing we are the heirs ot the selfless love ofthose who came before us and impelled to secure the future ofthose who follow uswith the love
and selflessness we find in the Heart of Christ.
