The 22-23 athletic season has come to an end - what an outstanding year.
Carrollton’s athletics consists of eleven sports teams.
In the fall, Cross Country, Swimming and Diving, Volleyball, Golf, and Sailing had successful seasons.
The Varsity Cross Country team participated in the District Championship and came out in third place. They placed seventh at Regionals, qualifying them for State Meet. Varsity Cross Country ended their season placing sixth at States. The Junior High Cross Country team went to the SFMSC Championship and won first place. They traveled to the FLYRA Middle school State Championships and finished seventh.
The Varsity Volleyball team won their Dig Pink game against Miami Country Day and ended their season as Regional Quarterfinalists. The Junior Varsity Volleyball team had big wins against Mater Lakes, Palmer Trinity, Chaminade Madonna, Coral Shores, Alonzo & Tracy Mourning High School and Miami Country Day at Dig Pink. The Junior High Volleyball A team competed in the Florida Christian School Tournament and placed second, and the SFMSC Championship placing second
as well. The Junior High Volleyball B team had big wins at Dig Pink against Miami Country Day and against Riviera Prep.
The Varsity Golf team was named District Runner-up and advanced to the Regional Tournament. The Junior High Golf team had an incredible year, finishing their season placing second at the SFMSC Championships.
The Varsity Swimming & Diving team finished third at Districts with Nicolette Xydas ‘25 as the Diving District Champion Several swimmers along with Nicolette advanced to the Regional Meet. The Junior High Swimming & Diving team competed and had a great showing at the SFMSC Championships.
Although the Sailing team did not compete in the fall, they did have a successful training period.
Winter season sports are Soccer and Basketball.
The Varsity Basketball team beat Marathon, FCS, and Miami Christian. Sofia Travieso ‘23 was a true leader on the team as she set a new school record for most points scored in a single game with 43 points against St. Brendan. She was nominated for The Miami Herald’s Player of the Week and won. The team won Districts and advanced to the Regional Tournament. The Junior Varsity Basketball team were Junior Orange Bowl Champions. The Junior High Basketball team won their season opener against Palmer, and also beat MCD & Gulliver.
 The Varsity Soccer team had a senior night to remember as they celebrated a 9-1 win over Downtown Doral for their Senior Game. The Junior High Soccer - A team won against Riviera, Westminster Christian School, Ransom Everglades, Divine Savior, and Miami Country Day. They entered into the SFMSC Championship tournament as semifinalists in the third seed. The Junior High Soccer - B team had an undefeated season with a first year team.
In the Spring, five sports are played, Track & Field, Softball, Tennis, Beach Volleyball, and Sailing.
The Varsity Softball team had an unforgettable senior night as they beat TERRA
with a score of 22-3 at their Senior Game. The team had big wins against Ransom Everglades, Gulliver, La Salle, Lourdes Academy, and Coral Shores. The Junior High Softball team was SFMSC Runner-up.
The Varsity Tennis team had big wins over Westminster Warriors, Miami Country Day, Ransom Everglades, and Florida Christian. The Junior High Tennis team finished third at the SFMSC Championships.
The Varsity Track & Field team finished as District Runners-Up. The District Champions include Arianna Garcia ‘26 in the triple jump, 100m hurdles, and 400m hurdles, Cecilia Costa ‘25 in the high jump, 4x8 relay team of Alexa Leon ‘26, Veronica Larrea ‘26, Emma Filippi ‘27 and Daniela Hernandez ‘27, Emma Filippi
‘27 in the 800 m and Andrea Gross ‘26 in the 100m. The team finished fourth at Regionals and had several athletes advance to the State Meet. There were two Regional Champions, Arianna Garcia ‘26 in 400m hurdles and the 4x4 relay team. Three school records were set: the 4x4 relay team of Bella Carroll ‘23, Arianna Garcia ‘26, Andrea Gross ‘26 and Emma Filippi ‘27, the 4x8 relay team of Alexa Leon ‘26, Veronica Larrea ‘26, Emma Filippi ‘27 and Daniela Hernandez ‘27 and Emma Filippi ‘27 in 800m. Arianna Garcia ‘26 was nominated twice for Miami Herald’s Player of the Week and won once. The 4x400 meter relay team of Bella Carroll ‘23, Arianna Garcia ‘26, Andrea Gross ‘26 and Emma Filippi ‘27 finished 7th and set a new school record at the State Meet. The 4x800 meter relay team of Veronica Larrea ‘26, Alexa Leon ‘26, Emma Filippi ‘27 and Daniela Hernandez ‘27 finished 9th and set a new school record at the State Meet.
The Varsity Beach Volleyball team had an outstanding and successful season with a season ending 8-3 record, and an appearance at the Regional Tournament. The team had big wins over Florida Christian, Keys Gate, True North, La Salle, and Downtown Doral. The Junior High Beach Volleyball team ended their season as 2023 SFMSC Champions with the A2 team of Francesa Sperman ‘28 and Natalia Fernandez ‘28 taking first place in their round robin matches.
The Sailing team competed in a few regattas and had boats participate in the SAISA Girls District regatta.
