 The Junior High Soccer team competed in the SFMSC Championship and placed second. The Varsity Team had a season that they will never forget. The team won Districts for the fourth year in a row, they were Regional Champions, went to States for the first time in school history and were runners-up. There are many star players on the team who made All-Dade Teams. They are Anna Diaz-Siveira '20, Fatima Perez-Hickman '20, and Natalia Hoadley '20 who made first team; Julia Sariol '20, Magarita Miyares '22, and Isabela Bond '20 who made second team; and Carolina Pino '21 and Lexi Molina '22 who made third team.
The Junior High Basketball team had a season that ended with a 6-7 record. They participated in the SFMSC Championship and received fifth place. The Varsity Basketball team had a tremendous year. They were District runners-up, and they advanced to the Regional Semifinals for the first time in school history. Members of the team made All-Dade Teams - Sofia Mendez '24 made second team, Nina Paneque '20 and Sofia Travieso '23 made third team, and Sabrina Mas '20 received an honorable mention.
Spring Season
In the Spring, five sports are played, track and field, softball, tennis, and beach volleyball. Teams began their seasons well, started something special, but never got to finish, Jue to the C O V ID -19 pandemic.
The Varsity Track and Field team went to the Ransom Everglades Invitational and won first place. In the 4x800 relay, the school record was broken twice. In the 4x 100 elay, a new school record was made. A couple of key players, Haley McCarthy-Levy '20 made a school record in the Javelin and Caroline Carlson 20 made a school ecord high in the jumps.
The Junior High Softball team had a 2 -1 record. The Varisty Softball team had a record of 3-2.
The Junior High Tennis team had a record o f 3 -2 and the Varsity team had a record o f 5 - 1.
The Junior High and Varsity Beach Volleyall team both were undefeated with winning one game each.
The Sailing team Is currently ranked 17th in the SAISA South, after five regattas.
Sports team members are continuing their athletic training, while at home. "Regarding current training sessions, our coaching staff and our strength and conditioning coaches have been sending weekly workouts to the spring athletes, as well as the community in general via email and social media. A lot o f the athleteshave taken idvantage o f this and are trying to stay in shape during this process o f remote learning. Some o f our coachingstaff has also been doing virtual skills practices with their ithletesasbestastheycan,”wrote MattAlthage,DirectorofAthletics.
Mthough the spring athletic season was cut short and many o f the Carrollton athletes are waiting to play the game that they love dearly, the Cylones, cannot wait for what's -o come in the future "I am heartbroken about the spring 2 0 2 0 athletic season being cut short.
