By Alessia Garcia-Amandi '2A
Carrollton celebrated a special Advent season while staying safe.
The Montessori and Primary schools hosted many fun and meaningful activities this year including 9 Advent prayer services, the MigrantCollection, and a3rd Grade visitto the PostOffice to mail letters to Santa.
The Intermediate School community participated in collections for Breakthrough and Migrant Families. They also hosted a virtual Advent Prayer Service by homeroom, participated in the annual Jesse Tree tradition, and were treated to hot cocoa and cookies on the last day before break.
Each Junior High homeroom was engaged in a variety o f Christmas craft activities. The annual Lessons and Carols took place virtually and featured a slideshow put together by music students. In the spirit o f giving, the Junior High made sure not to disappoint one of its treasured community partners - the Thelma Gibson Health Initiative, and collected toys for boys and girls.
During Developmental Curriculum, Junior High 7th Graders wrote Christmas Stories for the Montessori students that teach moral lessons and read them to the little ones.
During the two weeks leading up to Christmas, the Upper School engaged in a variety o f holiday events during Dialogos and the community participated in several charitable activities. Dialogos activities included a Christmas dance-off, a white elephant gift exchange and other games. Clubs hosted a Spirit of Giving day, the NEHS sponsored a used book drive for Giving to the Grove, the community enjoyed a virtual Lessons and Carols, and there were several dress downs to benefit various charities.
Carrollton maintained C O V ID protocols throughout the Advent season and while many students were hybrid, they too joined in the festivities through charitable giving opportunities and Zoom .
