RECS highlights ol the year

Students participated in the itfcodeartorg Code Your City All Girls Coding Competition placing as follows: Isabella Prado, Ist place in Animation Grades 3-5; and Veronica Puig, Ist place in 3D Coded Art Grades 3-5. Self-Portrait Finalists included Veronica Puig, Olivia Arriete, Federica Lauria, Alana Dibildox, Juliet Diez, and Isabella Prado. Self-Portrait Honorable Mentions Grades 3-5 included Anna Tang, Natalia Bracamontes, Andrea Diaz, Alexa Diaz, Anabelle Block, Sophie-Anne Meurs, Victoria Garcia Pinochet, Alexandra Prado, and Sylvia Figueroa.
Junior High students prototyped food inventions, created a website using HTML and CSS, and more. Seventh grader Sienna Orjuela Miranda programmed a game using MakeCode Arcade. Click on the QR code to the rightto play.
The Upper School Robotics Team won Best Marketing Display for their "Trident" ROV and 3rd place in the Scout division at the MATE Regional ROV Competition for Florida. Students also created their own company. Sustainable Cyclones Underwater Robot Services, that developed their ROV, "Trident" to tackle the real-world problems of plastics in our ocean, climate change's impact on coral
reefs, and the consequences o f poor environmental practices on inland waterways. Students received 5 4 out o f 5 0 points for their Marketing Display. They are: Isabela Delgado '2 4 - C E O , Lead Engineer and Project Manager, Emma Beharry '23 - C O O and Lead Electrical Engineer, Amanda Hayes '22 - CFO, Chief Pilot and Systems Engineer, Michelle Flores '23 - Lead Mechanical Engineer and Tether Manager, Mia Lane '24 - Media Relations, Angelina Membiela '24 and Lucia Garcia-Chacon - Engineering Secretaries.
Carrollton's Rube Goldberg team, made up of Introduction to Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students, won the People's Choice Award and a Top Ten finish.

Olivia Jose '24, Kate Vail '24, Camila Aceituno '24, Luisana Azpurua '24, Alessandra Sanchez '24, Natalia Leach '23, Juliana Azan 23, Katia Alonso 23, and Grace Hernandez '23 built a Wizard of Oz themed machine to shake and pour a box o f Nerds candy.
IB Design Technology and Engineering students presented their design projects at Science and Engineering Night.
Students competed in the Dream in Green @dreamingreenmia Design and Build Competition and won Honorable Mention for their design and architectural model with adaptations made to withstand projected sea level rise. They are Sarah Siman '21, Gianna Canto '21, Carolina Swain '21, Lauren Nieto '24, and Isabela Delgado '24.
CarrollSun Solar Car Team worked on a brand-new car for the cross-country 2022 Solar Car Challenge.
Students in AP 3D Art and Design as well as those in IB Visual Arts, Sculpture, and Introduction to Music classes (co-taught by the RECS and Visual Arts Departments), took advantage o f the tools and equipment in our makerspaces to produce fantastic artworks and even musical instruments.
