Special Programs (registration required when noted)
Enhanced Storytime (Ages 0-5, with a caregiver)
Saturday, March 19, April 16, and May 7, 10:15 - 11:15 a.m. Registration is required. Register for each date separately beginning February 14.
These monthly storytimes will expand the early literacy and language skills we always incorporate into storytime by adding stations to explore and develop fine motor, sensory, problem solving, gross motor and social emotional skills. Each family will receive one copy of the featured story to take home and keep. (Made possible by a grant from the Great Start Collaborative)
Teddy Bear Sleepover
(All ages of stuffed animals)
Do you ever wonder what your stuffed animals do at night? Drop off a favorite stuffed animal at the library for our Teddy Bear Sleepover and you will find out. We’ll take pictures of their fun and post them for you. Drop off one stuffed animal anytime between Monday, March 7 and Thursday, March 10. Pick up your stuffed animal anytime beginning Monday, March 14.
Spring Break Crafts (All ages)
Saturday, March 26 - Sunday, April 3 (While supplies last)
Drop in anytime while on break and enjoy a variety of spring crafts to take and make at home.
April is Poem in Your Pocket Month (Ages 5-11)

Bike Clinic (All ages)
Sunday, May 22, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
(Drop-in program, no registration required)
Drop by and learn how to inflate your tires and tighten the brakes on your bike. We’ll have a craft to jazz up your bike to make sure it’s in tip top shape for summer!

 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (Birth – Age 5)
1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a Library program that encourages all families and caregivers to read at least 1000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Reading to preschool-age children builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them with the skills they need for Kindergarten. In as little as 15 minutes a day, families can build the skills for future school and life success.
Get started today! Pick up a free 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Log at Oxford Public Library. Any child aged 0-5 can participate.

500 Books Before Middle School (Grades 1-5)
500 Books Before Middle School is a Library program that encourages all elementary students to read 500 books before entering Middle School. Research shows that students who continue to read throughout elementary school have better vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills. It also encourages a life-long love of reading.
Get Started Today! – Pick up a free 500 Books Before Middle School Reading Log at Oxford Public Library. Any child in grade 1-5 can participate.
Chapter Book Review Squad (Chapter book readers)
Month of March
Read a chapter book this month, write a review, and earn an entry for a prize! Review slips will be available at the Youth Desk. Be part of the squad!
March is ‘Read to a Dog Month’ (All ages)
Call the library at 248-969-9491 or stop in to sign up for a 15 minute time slot beginning February 14. Dates and Times: Mondays, March 7, 14, 21, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays, March 5, 12, 19, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Come to the library and read to a special therapy dog. They don’t care how fast or how slowly you read; they are very patient listeners. You can read one of your books or one of the library books. The dogs like all kinds of stories.
Introduction to Wood Carving (Grades 2-6)
Saturday, March 12, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Registration is required and begins February 14.
Gerry and Michelle Burchard will bring their love of wood working
to OPL. They will show the children how to do some basic wood carving/wood burning with simple tools. They will teach the children how to safely use the tools to make an artistic design.
