For the past 15 months I have found myself wishing for a magic wand and crystal ball. I have longed for a way to provide answers, with a clear and definite path forward. It has been a hard 15 months. Hard is a relative term depending on your starting point, your financial situation, and personal strength. For so many, the COVID-19 pandemic has been horrific: loss of lives, financial stressors, holes in our educational systems, tenuous social safety nets, and the necessary spotlight on the systemic racism that plagues our society.
It takes a village. I am immensely proud of the library staff. We have adapted to the circumstances; a survival strategy that will serve us well going forward. I am extremely grateful to our community for its patience, as we find ways to provide access to materials and technology, with a focus on ensuring the safety of all.
One never has to go it alone: the library is here to help. We thrive on making connections for people. It is our role in the village.
