CB6 Discusses OfficersThe members of Community Board Six(Slope/South Brooklyn) will be discussingtheir proposed slate of 1987 board officersduring its regular monthly meeting Nov. 12 atI.S. 293 on Court and Baltic, starting at6:30pm.At the October meeting, board chair LouiseFinney announced she would not be a candidate for re-election and asked that a committee be formed to nominate a slate of officers to run CB6 beginning in January, 1987.In addition to the slate, nominations will alsobe taken from the floor at the Novembermeeting. The election will be held inDecember.CB6 will also hear the final design plans forthe reconstruction of Fifth Ave. betweenFlatbush and 1st St. The recommendationsare waiting for final board approval so thatthe project can begin this spring. Greene/ClintonHill) is beginning to take a hard look at theplanned MetroTech complex proposed forDowntown Brooklyn and at its regularmonthly meeting on Nov. 12, board memberswill vote on a letter to the developers of theproject requesting funding for two full-timeconsultants to review the project and makealternative recommendations. The letter, ifapproved, will also be sent to the PublicDevelopment Corporation, Brooklyn UnionGas, the New York State Dept, of Housingand Commercial Renewal and PolytechnicInstitute.Also that night, the board will vote on arecommendation to renew a franchise to theWatchtower Society for an aerial bridge atProspect St. for another ten years and willvote on an application for a store rental at 41Clifton Place. A number of properties underconsideration for demolition or to be auctioned by the City will also be voted upon thatevening. The board will vote whether the properties at 84 Bergen St., 11 Irving PL, 13 Irving PI. and 444-446 Myrtle Ave. should bedemolished. Additionally they will vote onwhether properties at M3 Green? Ave , 236Greene Ave., 183 Smith St. and 14 St. M ark%u2019sPI. should be sold by auction.The Nov. 12 meeting will be at 6pm at theNew York Telephone Company at 101Willoughby St. F o r more information, call596-5410. - L.K.Zoning Change SoughtConcerned with protecting theneighborhood character in Windsor Terrace,the City Planning Commission has proposedrezoning a major portion of the area. The application for the zoning change is now in theCity%u2019s Urban Land Use Review Process.(U LU R P) and Community Board 7 hasscheduled a public hearing for the application to change roughly 17 blocks of the area toa lower density zoning.%u201c After discussions in the community aboutconcerns of protecting neighborhoodcharacter, we proposed the zoning change,%u201dexplains Rosalie Hoffman from the Brooklynoffice of City Planning.The area affected by the change bordersProspect Park from Park Circle to WindsorPlace and stretches roughly from the Park tothe Prospect Expressway. The change willnot affect buddings on Ocean Parkway orProspect Park Southwest.The application is to change the zoningfrom R-6 density to R-5, meaning the floorarea ratio will be reduced from 1.65 to 1.25,allowing a smaller amount of square footageon any one lot.The meeting will be held on Nov. 12 at 6pmat 4201 4th Avenue.
