The program, entitled %u201cCultural Activities for All Children,%u201d is an extension of a smaller arts program launched at the school last spring.%u201cIt basically provides the opportunity for talented artists to come in and work with the kids,%u201d explains Eric Ward, the director of Funded Programs for School District 13. The $35,000 grant provides money to the school that will be used to bring fine artists in from Studio in A School and Learning Through An Expanded Arts Program.The school is receiving a legislative grant for the fifth straight year through the help of Assemblymember Eileen Dugan and State Senator Martin Connor. In the past, the money has been used to fund an all day kindergarten and another year provided computer education for the students of the school, which is made up of grades Kindergarten through 8th.%u201c It enables the school to provide enrichment activities,%u201d Ward says. %u201cThrough the Learning Through Expanded Arts Program, artists will come in who will teach the children mask making, story telling and dance,%u201d he adds. %u201cMoney will also be available for them to take trips to museums.%u201dCalling All SinglesBrownstone Brooklyn Jewish Singles is sponsoring two activities in November, starting November 14 at 9pm, at Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope, where the group will be hosting Friday night Shabbat services, followed by an Oneg Shabbat.On November 20, Brooklyn Heights Synagogue, Remsen Street between Clinton and Henry, will host a lecture and wine and cheese reception at 7:30pm with Florence Haselkorn, speaking on %u201cGuerilla Warfare: Survival Tactics for Jewish Singles in the 80%u2019s.%u201d Haselkorn is the director of the Post Masters Clinical Program at Adelphi University, a psychotherapist and a consultant for Compatimates, the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies introduction and dating service.Brownstone Brooklyn Jewish Singles is a coalition of four local synagogues and the Educational Alliance West, uniting in an attempt to meet the needs of single Jewish men and women in the 20-45 year old range. For information call 212-420-1150.Park Skating To OpenIce-skating is scheduled to come back to Prospect Park on November 22 when the New York City Parks and Recreation Department offers an expanded 1986-87 operating schedule at Brooklyn%u2019s only outdoor rink there. The shuttle bus connecting the rink with neighborhoods around the park will also be continued this winter.The rink hours for the fall are: Wednesdays, Thursdays and holidays, 10-6pm; Fridays through Sundays, 10-9pm. Admission fees are: $1 for seniors and children at all times; for other adults, $2 on weekdays and $2.50 on weekends. Skates of all sizes may be rented for $2.50 for a threehour period.The rink shuttle bus will leave the rink at the start of each hour, Wednesdays, Thursdays and holidays, 3 to 6pm; on Saturdays, 4-9pm; and Sundays, 3-9pm. For more information call 788-0055.Bandit Needs A HomeStray dogs roam the streets of Brooklyn and not many are fortunate enough to find someone who will take them in and find a home for them. But when Tony Polumbo, owner of Say It In Neon, saw a dog tied to the fire hydrant across the street from his home, he decided to offer the pup a temporary home.The black and white dog that he has named Bandit because of the markings on its face %u2014 one side black, one side white %u2014 is now residing in his shop on Third Ave., but Polumbo, who has two dogs at home, is desperately on the search for someone to adopt the year old dog.%u201cWhen someone leaves a dog like that right in front of you, you can%u2019t leave it there to die,%u201d he says. The apparent owner of the dog, when questioned by a neighbor who saw him abandon him, merely said that he did not want it and left. The male dog is housebroken and leash trained. %u201cThe only possession he had was his leash,%u201d Polumbo points out, %u201cbut he is wonderful with people, and he takes the leash in his mouth when he wants to go for a walk.%u201d Call Polumbo at 625-1418 if you would like to adopt Bandit. %u2014 L.K.Sister Plans ForumThe Brooklyn Sister City Project is sponsoring a public forum on the borough%u2019s sister city relationship with San Juan de Rio Coco, Nicaragua Nov. 14, at the Park Slope Community Center. The forum will include presentations by Ted Glick of the Atlantic Terminal Urban Renewal Coalition, and Reed Brody, a former assistant N.Y. attorney-general and author of %u201cContra Terror in Nicaragua.%u201d A representative from the Nicaraguan Mission to the United Nations has also been invited.The Brooklyn Sister City Project is presenting the event in the wake of the refusal of Community Board Six to sponsor a hearing on the sister city program. There is only space for 25 people, so interested parties should call the Citizens Committee at (212) 684-6767 to register.Board Of Estimate Approves Sales and BussesThe City of New York agreed during the regular Nov. 6 meeting of the Board of Estimate to sell a six-unit, four story walk up building located at 49 Fifth Ave. to a private company that is proposing to turn the property into low-income family housing. During the same meeting, the board postponed until the Nov. 20 meeting a decision to extend the franchise for Brooklyn with Cablevision Systems New York City Corporation from Nov. 30,1986 to June 30,1987 because the company has not completed its equity offering.Several other unfinished pieces of Brooklyn business from the Nov. 6 meeting were laid over until Nov. 20 as well, including the franchises for the operation of two different express buses to Manhattan, The Metro Apple Express and the Fiesta Bus Corp., both from Bensonhurst, Coney Island and New Utrecht. Consideration of the continuation of a drainage program contract between the Department of Ports, International Tradeand Commerce and the Port Authority was also laid over for the fourth time until a Nov. 20 meeting.A public hearing on the offer to purchase all the oustanding shares and stock of the Private Transportation Corp. by Victor Einhorn is continuing through the Nov. 20 meeting. Private Transportation Corp. operates a bus service between Williamsburg and Borough Park and the franchise does not expire until 1993. The hearings began at the Aug. 14 meeting and have continued through three subsequent meetings.The board also reviewed a resolution prepared by the City Planning Commission to dispose of a ten-year lease for two retail stores in the Livingston St. municipal parking garage in Downtown Brooklyn.
