Workers are putting the finishing touches of paint on the windows of the church, the last step of a construction project that repaired the church%u2019s historic tower.%u201cIf the work hadn%u2019t been done the church would have begun to crumble from withinbecause of dampness seeping through the masonry,%u201d says Dick Turmail, chairman of the church%u2019s buildings and grounds committee. The North and South walls of the church were also repainted.%u201cWe had to do something before it did something to us,%u201d Turmail says about the tower. The restoration funds were raised mostly by the church%u2019s congregation and totaled roughly $137,000. Turmail points out that the church in its new condition now joins some of the finely restored properties in the Brooklyn Heights historic community. The work, however, is not finished with this project. Next year the concrete sidewalks will be replaced. %u2014 L .K .A Part of Ybur CommunityRabbi Gerald I. Weider Rabbi Emeritus Eugene J.
