Celebrating the Year 12s: Final Days, Lasting Memories, and Encouragement for the Journey Ahead.
What a joy it was to celebrate with our Year 12s on Friday and then
again on Monday. They celebrated their last days of school with a
joyful breakfast, inflatable games, and mini golf, and the rest of the
College community got to join in this fun also. Then, on Monday, our
Year 12s continued to create memories at Glenelg’s Beachouse. As
they move forward, we pray God’s abundant blessings over their
journey ahead, and strength for those facing the final challenge of
exams.
As the Year 12s enter into exams, I want to give our students some advice and
encouragement. Many educators, career advisors, and successful professionals agree that
your ATAR score does not define who you are, or completely determine your future. While
academic performance can open doors to certain pathways, it is personal qualities like
resilience, curiosity, and determination that shape long-term success. Many individuals
have taken diverse, non-linear paths, proving that life is full of opportunities beyond a
single score. Employers, universities, and communities value skills like problem-solving,
teamwork, entrepreneurship and leadership just as much, if not more. In the end, it is the
pursuit of passions, a commitment to growth, and a positive attitude that create the most
meaningful and fulfilling careers and lives. So, my advice is to do your best and do not be
defined by the score.
Of course, the Bible tells us much
about enduring and running the race
set before us, but I want to remind all
our students of a verse that I think is
of equal importance, especially when
you might be feeling overwhelmed,
pressured and even stressed.
Isaiah 40:31 - But they who wait for the
Lord shall renew their strength; they
shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary; they
shall walk and not faint.
Be encouraged, whether you are a
Year 12 student, a student in another
year level, a staff member or a parent.
The Bible encourages us with the
following words from Galatians 6:9.
Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.
May you all continue to know God’s
abundant blessings, Year 12s, and we
look forward to celebrating with you
at your Valedictory Service in Week 5.
