P. 3
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,
because he will save His people from their sins.” All this took place
to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will
conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”
(which means “God with us”).
Matthew 1:21-23
The end of the year often sneaks up on us and I am aware that,
as I write this article, we have around 2 weeks until Christmas.
Christmas is a busy and exciting time, especially for children.
Presents, holidays and precious family time are all associated
with this special day. For many, these three aspects of Christmas
are all that it emphasises. I am aware that if my generation does
not share with our children the Christian meaning of Christmas
and why many in the world celebrate this day, it will be forgotten or unknown to the
generations to come.
The Bible tells us the Christian meaning as to why this day is so special. It is because Jesus
Christ (Immanuel, God with us) came into the world as a baby with the express purpose of
making a way for mankind to know Him, and see His great love for His people in that He
paid the price for our sin. Sin is something often overlooked in today’s world but the reality
is that we all know what it is and how it has affected our lives. Jesus came into the world,
born as a baby who was preordained from the beginning of time, to save His people from
their sins.
I encourage you all to share the message of Jesus Christ with your families this Christmas
as we celebrate this special event.
As the year comes to an end, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our families
for sending your children to Harvest Christian College. On behalf of the Harvest Christian
College staff, I pray that you all have a safe and happy holiday break and we look forward
to seeing you all next year.
