Emirates Post Group and MBZUAI unveil first-in-region

AI-generated postage stamps in celebration of UAE’s 52nd

Union Day

Emirates Post Group Company (EPG) collaborated with the Mohamed bin Zayed University
of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) to launch a collection of AI-generated postage stamps
commemorating the UAE’s 52nd Union Day.

This issuance, a first in the region, underscores EPG’s commitment to employing advanced
technologies to communicate the UAE’s inspiring narrative and preserve the nation’s rich
heritage that contributes towards building a brighter future.

MBZUAI’s Department of Computer Vision led this innovative initiative, creating these AI-
generated postage stamps serving as digital canvases that portray the UAE’s rich cultural
heritage and national aspirations. Depicting various iconic Emirati landmarks, including the
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Burj Khalifa, and symbols to honour the sustainability
within the nation, each stamp boasts a resolution of 2048 by 2048 pixels.

Employing a multimodal approach, the MBZUAI team synchronized state-of-the-art text-to-
image algorithms, along with MBZUAI's proprietary picture production pipeline. This
integration of real-world data including traditional attire, architectural styles, historical
elements, and futuristic aspects resulted in watercolour-style artworks that harmoniously
blended artistry with technical expertise.

Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group, said: “In honour of

Intelligence to issue three unique AI-generated postage stamps as a commitment to advancing
technology while preserving cultural legacy. This innovative initiative aimed to commemorate
