Mark Brophy, Sisk’s Senior Contract Manager on the
project, appreciates how vital this facility will be as
he’s worked alongside Johnson & Johnson for many
years. For the process to run smoothly, a number of
initiatives have been put in place to ensure the three
priorities of quality, safety and environmental impact
are monitored.

Monthly ‘Town Hall’ format meetings are held where
the whole site stops for an hour and discusses the
forthcoming works and current issues. Topics include,
amongst others, recent safety audit feedback,
operative awards to promote the highest standards of
work, and environmental audits. When it comes to the
environment, the Janssen team are leading the way.

Machteld Deconinck, Senior Project Manager
for Johnson & Johnson, is keen to promote the
importance of the project in helping the fight against
Ebola, but it is just as important to build safely and
without compromise.

Mark concurs with this view, ‘Janssen appreciate
a project that runs to schedule with the highest
standards, but also one that endorses a safety culture.’
Without the pioneering research companies such as
Janssen undertake, the fight to combat deadly diseases
such as Ebola would be impossible. The Sisk team in
