Southington Magazine — Autumn 2019
In 1981 Anthony Denorfia (Tony) was a partner in a Central Connecticut law firm successfully representing many of his clients in land use development. Having a strong insight in this field he ventured into new construc- tion and land development.
Over the past 38 years, he has personally supervised and managed the construction of over 1,000 residential and commercial units. Tony’s innate ability to surround himself with people who share the same core values has enabled him to create AA Denorfia Building & Develop- ment, LLC.
Beginning in 2004, Tony partnered with two of his sons - Andy, a real estate attorney and Matt, a licensed real estate broker. Matt and Andy are both graduates of Southington High School. Andy graduated from the Uni- versity of Richmond and later earned his law degree from Catholic University. Andy is in charge of land acquisition as well as co-managing the affiliated companies leasing division. Matt, after graduating from the University of Hartford, went into real estate working for Realty 3. He now has his broker license. In addition to co-managing the leasing divisions, Matt is in charge of all sales and marketing.
Today AA Denorfia Building & Development, LLC and its affiliated companies have become a successful, family run full-service firm specializing in residential & commer- cial development, leasing and land development.
Their present development located off of Loper Street, called Woodland Heights, will have 72 custom built homes ranging in price from $440,000 to $600,000.
They are also building the Winding River Rental Com- munity on Tridell Drive off of Meriden-Waterbury Turn- pike. These beautiful townhouse rentals are currently available for rent and the entire rental community will be completed sometime next year.
Ties to the Southington community run deep with Denorfia Builders. Over the years they have been very generous with their time, their money and their expertise. One example is the new Bread for Life Building. Donna Ayer, executive director at Bread for Life explains, “Denor- fia Builders acted as general contractor and went above and beyond attending to details that made this such a beautiful building! They donated time and labor and were also able to get the best out of the other contractors that worked on our building. Because of Denorfia Builders, there were many donations of material and labor, and the finished product is just beautiful!”
Mark Pooler, Executive Director and CEO at the Southington YMCA had this to say about Denorfia Build- ers. “In 2008 we needed pavilions at Camp Sloper as part of our rainy day program. Denorfia Builders stepped up and rallied local contractors to offer donations of time and materials. Denorfia Builders then led the way by building the first pavilion themselves. Tony has a wealth of building experience and really was the guiding light for all the construction that followed.”
Pooler goes on to say, “Again in 2012 we started the construction of the Melanie Rossini building. This build- ing was named in honor of a young woman, and YMCA employee, who died at age 21. Denorfia Builders brought in a significant donation and leveraged contractors and vendors to donate time and materials for free or at cost. It was through their generous efforts that this 2,400 square foot building exists.”
“When Tony Denorfia was awarded Person of the Year in 2012, he gave a moving speech about what it means to be part of a community, and raise your family right” says Pooler. “These were rousing words coming from a man who has quietly given so much to Southington.”
Denorfia Builders continues to build beautiful homes in Southington and the surrounding area. Tony says, “There is no substitute for customer satisfaction, which is why we stand behind our commitment to provide qual- ity service and help make our customers home building dreams come true.”
