ABOUT THE SONG ROOM
Vision
The Song Room’s vision is that all Australian children have the opportunity to participate in music and the arts to enhance their education, personal development and community involvement.
Mission
The Song Room’s mission is to provide children experiencing disadvantage with high-quality, evidence-based music and arts programs that are tailored to their unique needs.
How we create impact
As the only Australian education organisation delivering multi-year, multi-artform arts learning programs with student and teacher outcomes, The Song Room responds to some of Australia’s most pressing educational challenges including educational equity, student wellbeing, and teachers’ skills development and shortages.
Working in partnership with primary schools, communities and online, The Song Room creates sustainable outcomes through rich arts experiences that provide young people with the opportunity to thrive at school and in life.
Outcomes
Over the last 23 years, more than 450,000 Australian students have directly participated in The Song Room’s evidence- based arts education programs, and 32,000 teachers have subscribed to its digital arts education portal, ARTS:LIVE.
Program evaluation shows students’ wellbeing, academic outcomes, and community connection improve when taking part in a Song Room program. Their social-emotional skills improve and absenteeism declines. While teachers build the capacity and confidence to deliver curriculum-aligned, creative pedagogies in a sustainable approach to arts learning that creates a strong school culture.
