B&R ENCLOSURES TO USE DASSAULT DIGITAL PLATFORM
B&R Enclosures, an SME involved in the design, manufacture and electrical integration of electrical and data enclosures, is implementing Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to develop their digital capabilities and achieve greater operational efficiencies.
B&R Enclosures, a participant in the Virtual Shipyard Program, made the investment to improve product management and invest in customisable manufacturing techniques to stay ahead of the changing demands of the manufacturing market.
“I know first-hand that there is real interest in digital transformation as a strategy to support the prosperity and growth of Australian SMEs. B&R is delighted to have Dassault Systèmes as one of our key partners in our Industry 4.0 journey,” Chris Bridges-Taylor, General Manager of B&R Enclosures, said.
B&R Enclosures piloted the use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to increase information transparency across its design and production processes. The platform will allow customers and suppliers to gain access to a single digital source of product information. This means that information can be shared in real time, enabling different teams to better collaborate with one another and resolve potential issues in a timely manner.
“The Virtual Shipyard Program showcases the best of our capabilities on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, enabling compa- nies to design, analyse, simulate and collaborate in an interactive environment. We are proud to partner with B&R Enclosures in its transformation journey,” Masaki Sox Konno, Managing Director Asia Pacific South for Dassault Systèmes, said. ■
POPLARS PRECINCT PREPARING FOR BUSINESS
POPLARS, the newest business precinct for the Canberra and Queanbeyan region, is preparing for business.
This development is located at Jerrabomberra, a 10 minute drive to Canberra airport, 15 minutes to Defence’s Russell Offices (Department of Defence) and 20 minutes to Canberra CBD.
The development comprises a 35 hectare Innovation Precinct and 10 hectare Retail and Services Precinct. The broader site will also include a Learning Precinct with a new STEM high school and will be the home to the Queanbeyan Palerang Councils’ (QPRC) Innovation Hub.
This Hub is to be a business incubator for start-ups and emerging businesses. The concept is modelled on a similarly suc- cessful model implemented at locations throughout NSW where educational establishments develop links to industry.
“The development has received very strong support
from local and state governments with progress well exceeding initial expectations,” project manager
Chris Daly said.
“Subdivision works for the first stage of the retail centre have been completed with building works underway. Ultimately we envisage the site will provide an integrated employment centre for over 5,000 people.”

organisations. Defence, space, cyber-security and high
tech manufacturing are the focus for the business park with linkages in to the retail centre providing a unique opportunity for the region.
The development is registered for a Green Star Community Pilot rating with the Green Building Council of Australia target- ing 5 green stars. Environmental initiatives will include a support agreement with the Wandyali Conservation Trust for land management, education programs and research at the adjacent Poplars Grassland Reserve.
Construction is scheduled to start shortly on the spine road through the Innovation Precinct and link to QPRC’s Regional Sports Complex and the new South Jerrabomberra. This sets the scene for commencement of Stage 1 of the business park. Further information can be obtained from the Poplars website at www. poplars.com.au. ■
