TCRT SHOWCASES WORLD-FIRST RUBBER PRODUCT IN US
AUSTRALIAN company TCRT has returned from the US with extensive interest in its ground-breaking, fire-retardant ballistic rubber product.
Sydney-based TCRT showcased its world-first Linagard Ballistics Fire Retardant (FR)TM rubber at the recent AUSA (Association of the US Army) Exposition in Washington, which was attended by in excess of 30,000 visitors.
TCRT Chief Technical Officer Clive Blair said the company had more than 200 engaged stand visits during the three-day conference, as well as three major requests for quotes on potential contracts, alongside a multitude of strong follow-ups.
“The level of interest was outstanding, and far beyond our expectations,” Blair said. “We had a range of US and overseas governments interested, as well as primary military suppliers and manufacturers.
“The feedback we received was extremely positive, with numerous delegates telling us there is no other rubber like ours on the market.
“Overall, we had a superb response, with a lot of excitement around the different applications using our product.”
The rubber product, which is manufactured for TCRT by Weir Minerals, has undergone successful trials with both the US Army and the Australian Army. It was initially intended to be used for
shooting range curtains and wall linings to reduce the number of incidents where shooting ranges and shoot houses have caught alight and suffered fire damage.
The US Army is utilising Linagard Ballistics FR rubber on the XM Spartan, a two-person tracked vehicle. ■
