NEWS
TON UP!
IT HAS BEEN 100 years in the making and now the VACC Centennial Cavalcade and Show ‘n Shine will wow the Victorian motoring community with a convoy of 100 different vehicles from 100 different years and a display of those and many more vehicles on September 22.
The VACC Centennial Cavalcade will begin at Calder Park Raceway and the vehicles will drive north for Bendigo.
Vehicles participating in the Cavalcade will include cars, commercials, trucks, motorcycles, and road registered farm machinery – 100 different vehicles from 100 different years from 1918-2018.
Standout vehicles include the actual 1969 Aston Martin DBS Vantage used in the film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, a Rover sedan used in the film The Dress
Maker, a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, an unusual 1939 prototype Hanomag-built Beetle, a rare Australian- built 1975 Leyland Force 7, a quirky 1989 Skoda 120L Estelle, an intimidating 1993 Bentley Turbo R; plus local favourites such as Monaros and GT Falcons from the 1970s, and FPV and HSV sedans from the 2000s. When the Cavalcade arrives in Bendigo they will be individually featured in a Pebble Beach-style moving display with commentary from event ambassador Shane Jacobson, who will be on hand to introduce all 100 vehicles as they arrive, interviewing the drivers and explaining the history of each vehicle. It is believed that this is first of its kind in the world and won’t happen again, at least in Victoria, for another 100 years.

BODY CONSTRUCTION BOOSTS SEALANTS
USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT materials and demand for electric vehicles will create significant growth opportunities for the adhesives and sealants in automotive industry that could take the market past $12 million by 2024, finds Frost and Sullivan.
Increased adoption of high- performance products such as crash safety adhesives, liquid applied sound deadeners (LASD), advanced high- temperature-resistant silicones, and waterborne acrylics are expected to drive new growth opportunities and revenues. Frost and Sullivan
anticipates the global automotive adhesives and sealants market to grow at a CAGR of 4.4 per cent until 2024 and reach $12,209.9 million.
“Rapid adoption of aluminium, magnesium, plastics and composites in the body in white (BIW) and assembly segment prompted by the growing need to bond dissimilar substrates, increased safety concerns, and OEMs’ focus on enhancing aesthetic appearance boosts the demand for adhesives and sealants,” said Dr Leonidas Dokos, business unit leader, chemicals and materials, EIA at Frost and Sullivan.
