Cheers to you
THERE have been many cork-popping moments in Australia’s food and beverage sector since I penned my first editorial on these pages six years ago. The changes that found a foothold in this time include the move by many to embrace renewable energy and to adopt more ethical sourcing practices, as well as some key advances in robotics and Industry 4.0. The only certainty in this industry is that things never stand still, and Food & Drink Business is no exception: this will be my last
issue after many fabulous and fun-filled years, and I now hand over the editor’s baton to seasoned media specialist Kim Berry, who will take over the reins from next month.
But back to the present: the Food & Drink Business team has covered lots of ground in the past few weeks to bring you this latest issue – we clocked up thousands of steps at AUSPACK 2019 (read our full wrap in May), we jetted off to Taiwan to find out
more about the upcoming international Food
Taipei show, and we headed down to the Snowy
Mountains to talk to Aussie craft beer
luminary Chuck Hahn about the return of
the tinnie. In this beverage- and
snacks-focused issue, we also take a
look at the ‘new world whiskey’
movement and share a cracker of a
success story from premium snack
brand OBFinest.
Bon appétit and bye for now.
