“Through the Land 2097-4 Capability Enhancement Program, Army seeks the ability to rapidly integrate heli- copter modifications in order for interoperability with Spe- cial Forces Force Elements to be optimised,” BRIG Fenwick said. “Army is always looking for options to improve opera- tional capability, and improve Australian industry content. This concept offers an ability to upgrade the SORW plat- form with the latest innovations and technologies while re- maining competitive in the evolving threat environment.”
See figure two for more on the timeline of this program. At the same time, before a platform and partner is even chosen, Defence has released the Land 2097-4 Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) request for proposal. This
arrangement will see a third party alongside the platform provider and Army Aviation work on the upgrade and modi- fication path of the chosen solution.
According to an industry briefing, the CEP Contrac- tor will:
• be an unbiased interface between the Commonwealth and industry
• assist with defining/analysing capability requirements
• explore innovative technology options
• assess the maturity and feasibility of capability enhance-
ment options
