Welcome to 2020
Most in the printing industry will be welcoming a new year, especially one that promises new opportunities, and a drupa year.
It has not, however, been a great start for print businesses in East Gippsland, Kangaroo Island, the NSW South Coast, or the Blue Mountains, who spent much of the holidays battling fires, and now have to deal with the aftermath.
In all the despair, though, it has been heartening to see the print industry pull together, with multiple offers of support and assistance to those in need. Go to the Print21 website and key in Fire to find all the information you need.
Print21 kicks off the year with a major feature on wide format printing, with the latest on technologies, and a look at print businesses putting those technologies. We also feature the first part of the Top 20 Tips for successful wide format printing – follow these and you will give you operation a kick start for the year.
Wide format is now not just for posters and banners, but for emerging applications including textile printing, and this issue has a feature from drupa on digital textile; a look at a print business that has ramped up its t-shirt printing; and the launch of a new textile print technology.
Finishing systems get the once over, and we have a report from the inaugural ThinkSmart Factory concept in Japan, which explores internet-enabled connectivity. We also feature well-known trade finishing supplier Twin Loop.
Software is key to an efficient print business, and this issue is rich with software insight: we look at colour management as well as optimising your pricing and profitability, and we have an exclusive report from the Spicy Talks event in Berlin.
With the features complemented by informed comment and analysis, the first Print21 of 2020 will provide real value for you.
