VANTAGE BODY
REPAIR TRAINING
Vantage Automotive has announced it is launching a new body repair apprenticeship program in 2019. Vantage Automotive is a provider of Government-funded vocational learning and development services to automotive manufacturers, with an extensive client list across Australia. Its team of highly qualified trainers and assessors aim to identify, develop and deliver specifically targeted and tailored solutions for automotive clients to support needs of their students and apprentices.
Utilising its successful delivery model, Vantage Automotive will be working with leading industry partners such 3M to deliver a world-class body repair apprenticeship program to qualify students for AUR32116 Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology. All training is delivered within the Vantage Automotive Centre of Excellence in Sydney, with all workshops and classrooms especially designed to support automotive manufacturer’s technologies, diagnostic equipment, and electronic workshop manuals.
Vantage Automotive recently won Small Training Provider of the Year in the 2018 NSW Training Awards.

EXPO SET FOR APRIL
THE 2019 COLLISION Repair Expo will be held from April 4 to 6 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
This sector of the Australian automotive aftermarket industry
has seen significant development
in repair techniques, workshop equipment, surface coatings and tooling in line with modern
motor vehicle construction. The
2019 Collision Repair Expo will showcase the latest innovations
for Australian collision repairers, supported by practical exhibitor presentations, industry seminars and panel discussions.
Sydney Automotive Paints and Equipment (SAPE), has returned as the major sponsor of the 2019 Collision Repair Expo.
The 2019 Collision Repair Expo seminar program will be strongly supported by I-CAR, who will assist in presenting an
impressive line-up of industry experts and specialists who will conduct seminars.
A number of exhibitors who will be
performing live demonstrations at their stands, along with utilising the expo’s unique Lowbake Demonstration Spray Booth.

NAILBITING PPG FINAL
THE 2018 RUNNING of the PPG Colour Matching Competition was so close it came down to a tiebreaker to decide the winner.
After matching a solid orange colour in a one hour time limit and, then do the same for a mid-blue tone red metallic colour, the two top competitors were virtually inseparable. For the first time in memory, the judging panel had to go into tiebreaker mode. Judging is done ‘blind’ so although the panel of three judges did not know who was in the running to win, they were able to go back over everything those two contestants had done. safety, Jessie Purton, a second year apprentice from Finn’s Bodyworks in South Launceston, Tasmania, was declared the winner from Lucy Grimwood from South Australia.
The 2018 PPG Colour Matching Competition has already been hailed an outstanding success with a large number of apprentice spray painters participating across Australia and New Zealand.
The next running of the PPG Colour Matching Competition is scheduled to start around the second quarter of 2019.
