sales at Foxtel Media in September 2020 and is now approaching his 10-year anniversary at the company.
“If you look at the different roles that I've done within this organisation which has changed so much, I'm happy to have found an organisation that has faith in me and develops and grows me, but also evolves and helps me learn,” he says.
“Two years ago, I took my latest role and TV became a core part of my remit. It was about really learning television, although I've always worked within a TV company, I've always been a digital native. So, the roles in this company continue to give me opportunities to learn and grow.
“I look at my time here and it’s been a great 10 years, I've learnt a lot from all the different opportunities within here.”
Developing knowledge and skills is becoming increasingly important for the industry, Hasan says, arguing it will only get harder as new tools and technology is rolled out.
“When I was in digital, I was really proud of keeping up with all the digital trends,” he says. “I think it’s becoming more and more challenging to keep up with the industry and how it's evolving.
“Now, we're a big part of driving, moving away from CPMs to engage- ment and attention. You look at the way that social media has come in. You look at all the different technology platforms. It's becoming harder. That’s the challenge in the industry today, it's becoming harder and harder to be across everything.
“That's where you have to lean on people around you to help keep you up to date, or keep you up to date on the key things. I'll always do reading and learning on my own but you have to just lean on other individuals around to keep you ahead of the game because the industry's changing so quickly. COVID has accelerated that to another level.”
Looking ahead, Hasan says his main career goal is to continue learning and driving innovation.
“I could sit here and say in three years’ time I want to be a CEO, but I genuinely love working with the team,” he says.
“I don't know if I could ever be that far removed from the day-to-day involve- ment with the team because I absolutely love it. So the career goal for me is just to continue to learn. I also continue to be passionate about what I do within the industry and within Foxtel Media, as long as we continue to innovate and change, they're the only goals I look at from a personal perspective.
“I don't plan life to the point where in two years I want to be in X role, and in another three years I want be in a much more senior role. I look at it more from a work-life balance. As long as I enjoy what I do and I'm learning, what the title is and what the role is in terms of name, doesn't bother me.”
“I'm happy to have found an organisation that has faith in me and develops and grows me, but also evolves and helps me learn.”
