Projects using natural refrigerants triple
2018 WAS AN exciting year for CAREL with the company reporting a threefold increase in projects using natural refrigerants.
Carel said the number of CO2 projects with DC inverter technology has tripled since 2017, with the purchase of natural refrigerants instead of traditional gases generating big savings.
The increase in high-efficiency solutions with natural refrigerants also translates into signifi- cant energy savings. It is estimated that the sys- tems sold during 2018 saved almost 3000 MWh of energy, with almost 1500 tonnes less CO2
equivalent released into the environment. In addition to this, there was also a reduc- tion in polluting gas emissions due to refriger-
ant leaks from low GWP solutions.
“In fact, we estimate that our 2018 projects
cut environmental emissions by 2500 tons of CO2 equivalent compared to R404/A solutions of equal capacity,” the statement said.
“This represents a net and tangible saving of a total of 4000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, that is, the equivalent of no cars driving through cen- tral London for 20 days.”
In the face of a further increase in global warming, CAREL is contributing to the use of natural refrigerants by developing solutions that simplify their use and increase the effi- ciency of the system.
"Solutions with natural refrigerants repre- sent the present and no longer the future", ac- cording to Matteo Dal Corso, application spe- cialist for retail solutions at Carel. "Now that the technologies we have developed in recent years are available it is time to focus on innova- tive features and services, thanks to very ad- vanced devices, already installed and ready.”

BITZER extends use of QR codes to fight piracy
Fake spare parts themselves show risks of low performance due to wrong dimensions as well as poor materials, machining and finish.
“The use of non-original spare parts puts com- pressor safety and reliability at serious risk: they can lead to significant damages and could cause the compressor to break down.
“Therefore, BITZER recommends not to use such components.”
BITZER compressors need perfectly tuned components to guarantee high performance.
BITZER HAS EXTENDED the use of QR codes to its original spare parts range.
The codes are already used on its compressors but product pirates also sell fake oils and fake spare parts.
BITZER said it has been monitoring piracy, fo- cusing on how to improve measures to confront this known problem and protect its customers.
In a formal statement the company said: “BITZER compressors have been equipped with QR codes for an authenticity check for years; this service will now be phased in for most BITZER Original Spare Parts as well. Only original is safe.
“The secure QR code protects against counter- feits as it contains information that only BITZER can provide. Each QR code is linked to the spe- cific part and the package it comes in.
“When scanning the code, customers receive the respective part description and picture, part number, BITZER specific protection data,
as well as direct access to the relevant docu- mentation in the BITZER spare parts software EPARTS.”
Technologically sophisticated machines like compressors need perfectly tuned components to continuously guarantee high performance.
Each spare part has to perfectly match the running system.
BITZER Original Spare Parts are designed to- gether with compressor development and thus are always considered state-of-the-art technolo- gy. They come with a parts warranty and match the highest operational standards of BITZER compressors, and fast supply is guaranteed by BITZER Global Logistics Centres.
“The devil is in the details: first signs of coun- terfeits are often already visible in the packag- ing,” the statement said.
“These first hints may include poor alignment of the logo print, different colour schemes of the BITZER logo or a lower-quality cardboard box.
