Wilson said security technologies, and especially cyber were not particularly de- pendent on what happened in the recent past, pointing out that work done a decade ago had little relevance to the current situ- ation, and Australia must continue to stay ahead of the game.
“No country has a monopoly on smart people, so there is no reason why Australia cannot become a cyber and security tech- nology powerhouse,” he added.

“Its focus is exploring future force options to maintain, if not enhance, our capability into the future,” CDRE Turner told del- egates. “But this cannot be done by Defence in isolation, it requires the collaborative ap- proach of all our stakeholders to anticipate the future, develop the concepts to operate successfully, be clear of the capabilities we require and attract the people we need.”
CDRE Turner said Defence Explora- tion Force focus is on 2030 and beyond, to adapt capability to the future force for the future operating environment.
“Our focus is on future capability deci- sions, by providing a concept-driven path- way to developing future force options, some of which may not yet even be imag- ined, or is at the very early technological development stage,” he said. ■
