  AMA TRAINING GOALS
AMA HAS BEEN INVESTING HEAVILY IN ALL ASPECTS OF TRAINING, FROM BRINGING ON APPRENTICES TO BEGINNING THE ROAD TO I-CAR GOLD.
 A
MA’S BUSINESS DEVELOP-
ment director Mark Reid and his colleague Barry Macdonald focus on culti- vating young women and men who are lost in the system, experienc- ing hardship, or university graduates who see the opportunities in the auto-
body industry.
Reid said: “A corporate entity can be a
faceless beast. AMA is different. We are a business with a family touch where people matter.
“AMA has more than 260 apprentices from all walks of life, and the business needs more for future years. Right now the Australian autobody industry re- quires another 500 apprentices for fu- ture generations to get Australians back on the road.
“All our apprentices are up to date academically. All our panel apprentices have re- ceived two weeks special- ised training at our Eagle Farm site.
“All our paint apprentices have received one week spe- cialised training, and all of our apprentices have been for- mally assessed.
“And there is a year’s training calen- dar in place, and the training is repeated every quarter.”
“We are the largest autobody repair network in Australia and we have spent the last two years working on the development of a Coaching Ap- prenticeship Program (CAP),” AMA panel CEO Steve Bubulj said.
“AMA has significantly invested in the development of coaching apprentic- es and addressing the issues which have contributed to poor completion rates across our national tertiary educa- tion system.
“CAP is doing wonders for the busi- ness, but more importantly for the qual- ity individuals who find a new lease in life by being part of our organisation.”
