Gary Presnell Bodyworks in Launces- ton, Tasmania is now managed by the second generation in the form of Kate Presnell. It was started by her parents 38 years ago in their garage and has grown substantially and developed over the decades.
The business has invested heavily in equipment and training to be BMW and Volvo approved. There are three new paint preparation bays and a wheel alignment system. iBodyshop is employed to create ef- ficiencies and a business coach has also been brought on board to further develop the shop. Other initiatives include staff lunches and a staff assistance program, a ‘reduce’ as well a recycle policy, a new website and significant support for, and in- volvement in, the local community.
The business markets itself though a regular newsletter and competitions through its social media channels.

Rising Star Kate Presnell has been a pre- vious winner in our Women in Collision awards and is a regular contributor to our Next Generation group. Her human resources background gives her a differ- ent perspective and she is always look-
ing for ways to connect and contribute to the industry.
As well as looking to develop her staff, Presnell puts a lot of effort into self de- velopment to become a better leader and business person. She has undertaken leadership courses and employed a busi- ness coach. She is taking part in a health program that focuses on ‘mind fit’.
For her, the best part of her job as gen- eral manager is developing her team and she takes great pride in their collective achievements.
She is also committed to improving the industry as a whole. This includes talking with politicians to raise aware- ness of industry issues and find out if there are any government initiatives that could help, as well as being in- volved with the MTA.
