6A WINNING SOLUTION FOR RECYCLING
Winpak introduced its new ‘recycle-ready materials’ at the show.
“Right now, there’s no infrastruc- ture to recycle flexible packaging on a broad scale in North America. Our new recycle-ready structures are largely polyolefin-based with fewer components, which should help facilitate recycling in the near future,” said J. Phillip Crowder, corporate director of Sustainability at Winpak.
“Our recycle-ready product line includes pre-made pouches, forming and non-forming webs and flexible lidding materials. Featuring a strong barrier, the materials are ideal for packaging dairy, meats and other proteins, and these materials offer outstanding product safety, quality and shelf life.”
5YOUR NEW BEST PAL
Columbia/Okura launched the miniPAL, a mobile, collaborative palletising system integrating Universal Robot’s UR10e. With a small footprint that’s only 9 feet by 10 feet, miniPAL is designed to maximise flexibility when stacking boxes or pails.
“What makes the miniPAL unique is it can be moved around a customer’s facility between different lines, as

needed. Unlike most robotic palletisers, which need to be bolted to the floor, miniPAL has a heavy frame that’s still mobile,” said Lucas Arantes, project manager and sales application engineer at Columbia/Okura.
“Our software is also easy to use. It takes less than five minutes to set up a new load pattern.”

4COMPACT SOLUTIONS IN THE BAG Triangle Package Machinery Company introduced its new Model CSB compact sanitary bagger at the show.
“Although it’s suitable for a variety of applications, we designed the CSB for the fresh cut produce industry, offering a wide range of bag sizes in a very narrow footprint while maximising sanitation,” said Kim Magon-Haller, marketing manager at Triangle.
“The control box actually fits inside the machine frame to reduce the width of the machine to only thirty-six inches at the same time it accommodates the 27.5 inch film roll needed to make thirteen-inch bags. It’s actually half the size of a traditional bagger.”
