DURST LAUNCHES NEW PLATFORM TAU 420 RSCI
Durst was launching its first new label platform for seven years with the scal- able Tau 420 RSCi, with local sales manager Paul Sanelli saying it changes the rules of label print production.
The new press comes with field up- gradable web widths and four or eight colours again upgradable, and it prints at 1200x1200dpi using Fuji Samba heads at 100 metres a minute print speed.
The three web width options are 330mm, 420mm and 510mm, and the colours are CMYK plus orange, violet, green and white.

HP SHOWS RAFT OF DEVELOPMENTS INCLUDING DIGITAL POUCH FACTORY
With one of the biggest stands at the show, HP was awash with new developments including a full digital factory for flexible pouches: an HP Indigo 20000 with inline coater, a laminating system, and a Karlville pouchmaking line all worked in tandem to produce the pouches.
Visitors also saw live printing of shrink sleeves on the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press and inline coating with the ABG ILC 762, followed by converting on beer cans at the adjacent Karlville stand.

BOBST CLAIMS NEW ERA WITH NON-STOP HYBRID MASTER DM5
Bobst has launched a new hybrid digi- tal and flexo label press, the Master DM5, which it says is the industry’s first non-stop digital label press. The Master DM5 has the company’s Mou- vent inkjet technology inside, and is designed for flexibility for high added value labels, with short job setup and fast ROI. The press prints at speeds of up to 100 m/min at 1200 x 1200 dpi.

AVERY DENNISON GETS STRONG WITH ROUGH SURFACES
EPSON SHOWS SUREPRESS WITH INLINE FINISHING
Epson showed its new SurePress L- 6534VW digital label press with inline fin- ishing on its stand, which also included the SurePress L-4533 and a new range of label printers – Colorworks – intended for inhouse applications. Marc Tinkler, head of product marketing, Commercial and In- dustrial at Epson Europe, told PKN that the new SurePress L-6534VW would be ap- pealing to printers looking for durability, quality, consistency, and performance.

Avery Dennison used Labelexpo to launch 12 new innovations, including what it says is a breakthrough adhesive for rough surfaces like cardboard boxes. It showed off its store of the future, say- ing collaboration is key to its product development. One innovation on dis- play, the new Surfas adhesive, was de- signed to give better adhesion for labels to cartonboard and other rough surfaces in the era of internet shopping.

MARK ANDY REVAMPS DIGITAL PRESSES
Mark Andy showed the Digital Pro 1, Digi- tal Pro 2, and Digital Pro 3. The new Digital Pro 1 is a reel to reel printer; Digital Pro 2 has rotary die cutting and can have a single flexo unit; and the Digital Pro 3 has semi rotary die cutting and a single flexo unit. All three printers run at 23 metres a min- ute. The company launched the Digital HD Series at the show, which is end-to-end Mark Andy and a modular press. It comes in 330mm and 430mm width options and is built on the P7 frame; digital is CMYK with white, orange, violet, and green.
