“They’re upgrading a range of components to be lighter and more capable than the existing running gear, and these have been manufactured in Australia and shipped to Ger- many over the last six months.”
The experience gained in Rheinmetall’s successful bid for Land 400 Phase 2 and the supply of 211 Boxer Com- bat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRVs) was helping shape the internal testing being undertaken on the RMA vehicles, as was the extension from six to 12 months of the vehicle mo- bilisation element of the RMA, he added.
The digital two-man Lance 30mm turret fitted to the RMA Lynxs’ share the same physical and system architec- ture as the Lance 30mm turret that will equip the Boxer
CRVs. Should Lynx be selected for Phase 3, the modular systems for the additional Phase 3 requirements would al- low the Phase 2 and Phase 3 turrets to be interchangeable, Stewart said.
REDBACK
The three AS21 Redbacks will be delivered to Defence by December, Richard Cho, Managing Director of HDA, told ADM. All three will be fitted with rubber tracks.
