TIME
en in Collision awards and semi- nar back in 1982 when Paint & Panel first hit the presses? Even back then women were the backbone of the industry – but very much in the back- ground. We feel privileged to recognise women’s skills, leadership, valuable contribution and determination at this year’s awards (p36) and over the moon that we could get together in person – at last. Congratulations to our 10 winners
and all of the finalists.
We will be celebrating our 40th anni-
versary in the next issue and want to feature as many businesses as possible who have been in the game for as long or longer than us. Cramp Bros Body- works in Hobart is a perfect example. It started out as a carriage works in 1892 (just a tad before we arrived on the scene) and is now in its second genera- tion of female leadership.
We want you to dig around for old photos and email them to samstreet@ yaffa.com.au. We'd also like you to tell us what year the business was estab- lished, if you have bought it then how

long have you owned it and who was the business founder? Also, what do you think has been the most significant change in the industry in the last 40 years and what do you think will be the biggest challenge in the next five years?
Looking back over magazines from the ‘80s, ‘90s and ‘00s the issues that af- fect the industry haven’t changed. Skills shortages, hourly rates, cash settlement issues, mediation between repairers and insurers, unsafe repairs – you name it and it’s been going on seemingly since Adam was a boy.
Back in the ‘80’s we were just a print magazine. Since then we’ve added e- news, social media and events which create opportunities to keep the repair community connected.
On the subject of connecting, if you are going to the Collision Repair Expo (and if not why not?) then drop by our stand AA21, we’d love to chat.
