WOMEN
IN FOODSERVICE AWARDS WIFA
One day, there will be no need for awards dedicated to women. One day, women will have equal opportunities,
equal treatment, equal pay and equal recognition. But that day is a while off. Women who break the mould, defy expectation and do it for themselves need and deserve recognition and celebration now more than ever, for they are fighting an uphill battle that won’t be levelled out soon. This month at Fine Food Australia in Sydney, we announced the winners of the third annual Women in Foodservice Awards, lifting up the women who so often get overlooked in this male-dominated industry. From 450 applicants, judges
Christine Manfield, Jill Dupleix, Anita Connors and I saw immense dedication from women all around the country. It is with joy and admiration that I congratulate the winners and finalists for their towering talent, drive, skill and for being role models to others. But more importantly, I want
to say thank you for applying in the first place. Backing your friends and colleagues is vital, but nominating yourself takes courage and belief. These are qualities
our industry must foster, because without strength, support and a little nerve, none of us could move forward.
