The dynamic label and packaging sector is perhaps one of the most rapidly evolving sectors in the entire print sector, and the ability to accurately predict future market movements is vital for business planning. Label & Packaging Expo has the answers, with visitors to the August show in Sydney set to benefit from the renowned PrintEx Forum Series.
Label & Packaging Expo 2019 will this year co-locate with PrintEx19, not only giving visitors to the show the advantage of a much broader and more comprehensive display of technology and solutions, but providing decision makers with the opportunity to ‘see into the future’ at the perennially popular PrintEx Forum Series.
Those who have attended previous PrintEx shows will recall the significant Forum and Workshop program, where visitors can learn more about the trends and technologies which are shaping the industry, hear from experts on the ‘big issues’, and benefit from practical, hands-on demonstrations.
“The ability to predict the direction of change and adapt to that change it is the biggest challenge we all face in business,” says Peter Harper, CEO of the show’s organisers, Visual Connections.
“There’s no question that the print and graphic communications sector – and packaging in particular – is experiencing a pace
of transformation which far outpaces most other industries, making that challenge even greater.
“The PrintEx Forum Series addresses this requirement directly by helping visitors get a handle on the trends and technologies which are shaping the future.”
The Forums have always been a vital part of the PrintEx show, providing visitors with information, insight and inspiration as they explore new opportunities for their businesses.
This year, with the Label & Packaging Expo co-locating with PrintEx19 and Visual Impact at the Sydney Showground, Harper says there’s an increased focus on labels and packaging, and the trends and technologies which are impacting on this market.
“We’re currently confirming speakers for the forums, but already we have a very strong program of keynotes, expert masterclasses, panel sessions and workshops which will cover a broad range of topics and industry sectors,” he says, adding that daily themes will help visitors choose sessions of particular relevance to their business.
“On the first day of the show, Tuesday 13 August, we’ll have a strong focus on Retail, starting with the daily business breakfast and looking at issues including major retail trends and the impact of sustainability on packaging.
“Day two will focus on Food, Wine and Events, looking at
the entire ‘end-to-end’ process of giving products an edge, from marketing, to shelf presentation and beyond, while the following day, with an ‘Innovation’ theme, will look at ways to future-proof the industry and take a look at the possibilities created by emerging technologies including functional print, AR and the Internet of Things.”
“On the final day of the show, which has a Government & Education theme, label and packaging printers will be interested to hear about how print helps develop a genuine relationship with the customer, how the right workflow solution can transform your business, and where industry training is going in future.”
Harper says the sessions throughout the week will be the ‘perfect complement’ to the adjacent 6000m2 exhibition, delivering real return on investment for visitors.
“Label & Packaging 2019 will allow businesses to expand their horizons, viewing a wide range of solutions which could inform their choices for everything from workflow and MIS solutions, through commercial production, to creating prototypes, using new and exciting materials and substrates – and to explore the context in which they can use these technologies to build a successful future,” he says.
Label & Packaging Expo is an initiative of the Flexible Packaging and Label Manufacturers’ Association (FPLMA) and Labels Plus magazine. It will run from 13 – 16 August, 2019 at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.
