The Roland 700 Evolution superseded both the Roland
700 HS and the Roland 700 Direct Drive, on an all-new platform. Designed from the ground up and incorporating a sleek, futuristic look, the latest generation Roland 700 incorporates many new technological developments, aimed says the company to give printers unprecedented levels of efficiency, productivity, operation and quality.
Among the new developments already on the Evolution is a newly designed central console with touch-screen control, a new feeder pile transport that cuts down on waste, manroland’s new suction belt sheet handling technology for a more even pile contour, all-new dampening units in the press, bearings that significantly reduce vibration and, when used with the sophisticated software for practice- oriented roller washing cycles, further reduces downtime.
The result according to manroland is enhanced productivity and print quality alongside a further lowering of production costs.
The manroland Evolution Ultima is described by the company as “a press with one or more inline coater or special finishing processes”. Ultima can be minimal - with simply an in-feed, coater and a delivery - or it can be complex with coating, printing, perfecting, foiling and final coating. Whichever configuration, OnePass is common.
According to Dennis Wickham, managing director of manroland ANZ, with production runs shortening, sheetfed customers with presses such as the Roland 700 Evolution, the Roland 900, and the smaller format Roland 200 and 500, have been looking for their technology to keep pace with demand. He said, “A lot of sheetfed customers are pushing down the road of faster makeready functions, including simultaneous plate loading, inline colour control, and inline register control, which assist in speeding up makeready times.
“We also have a lot of software improvements in regards to the network flow of information from planning to press operation and reporting, which assist in the overall improvement of the equipment effectiveness,” he says.
A new version of the Roland Evolution is being prepared for a drupa launch.
