Packaging smarts tabled at new conference
When the four day packaging and processing trade show AUSPACK 2019 opens its doors on
26 March, visitors will also have the opportunity to attend the inaugural AUSPACK Business & Industry Conference.
Featuring two streams – business growth, and packaging and processing – the conference will include 40 local and international speakers across plenary sessions, Q&As, case studies, and breakouts. “The variety of presentations and speakers will be an excellent way for delegates to learn about key industry areas,” says Mark Dingley, chairman of AUSPACK owner, the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA).
Speakers include Andrew Manly of the of the Active and Intelligent Packaging Industry
Association, based in the Netherlands, who will deliver a keynote on Smart Packaging – How Can Packaging Be Part of The Sustainability Solution?
“Andrew will look at how new packaging technologies can drive efficiency, reduce waste and give better control of sales, marketing and the supply chain,” says Dingley. “His session will go deeply into the world of ‘smart packaging’, comparing new technologies and active and intelligent solutions.”
Also in the packaging and processing stream, John Broadbent, smart factories mentor at Realise Potential and adjunct professor of engineering at UTS, will present a session
on Factory of the Future – It's Already Here.
“This will demystify the rapidly changing technical environment of smart
factories, Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things or IIoT,” says Dingley. “John will then facilitate a panel on ‘4.0 In Practice - Taking the Next Step’. This panel discussion and Q&A opportunity will explain
how Industry 4.0 works in practice and what technologies manufacturers need, so they can compete in Australia and internationally.
“There’s some fantastic empirical evidence around showing that manufacturers who have headed down the smart-factory path have seen some large rewards, including in increased supply chain visibility and higher customer satisfaction.”
The AUSPACK Business and Industry Conference 2019 will be held from 26-27 March at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. 21
